American Red Cross blood donations: Blood and platelet donations needed. American Red Cross call for volunteers at their emergency shelters during wildfire season: Volunteer duties would include helping with staff shelter reception, registration, meal distribution, sleeping arrangement and information collection. Backpack and School Supply Drive: The Department of Social Services’ Toy Loan Program is requesting donations of school supplies for low-income schoolchildren in Los Angeles County. Donation may include: backpacks, binders, calculators, index cards, pencil cases, erasers, folders, glue, lined paper, pencils and pens and pencil sharpeners. Rite Aid’s Miracle Balloon Fundraising Campaign: Customers at Rite Aid may add a donation to their in-store purchases or donate online. Funds raised go to provide healthcare and treatment services and medical equipment at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The Pasture Food Bank at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Tujunga: The parish’s food bank has reopened. Needy families may use the drive-thru line, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month. The public may donate canned and boxed food.
