1948 Ford COE Custom Hauler

It takes a bold truck (or a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle) to pull off this color. But this vintage cabover has all the swagger to go green.

The upcoming 2019 Indy auction by Mecum in Indianapolis, Indiana is coming May 11 to 13. The lots offer a huge selection of vehicles, road art, motorcycles, and more. Naturally, we always check out the Ford trucks first. And this custom 1948 COE F-6 hauler just popped off the page. And no, not just for its striking color.

Custom built, the previous owner invested about $80,000 in the truck. Looking at the details, you can see that this money was well spent.

It is truly pristine, the fabrication work was done flawlessly. The build is steeped in the trucks vintage Ford roots, but expands on that to make this infinitely more driveable by today’s standards.

A custom bed cover with electric lift is a smart touch, and the wood bed with chrome accents is as slick as it is useful.

The 1948 body was built on a 1950 Ford chassis. The engine was swapped for a 350 CI V8 engine, mated to a Phoenix 5-speed automatic transmission. It got 1989 Mustang power rack and pinion steering, and power brakes with front discs.

The interior is clean, with cool stitched seating, vintage air, a Dakota Digital gauge cluster, Ididit steering column, and Pioneer custom stereo.

The custom chrome bumper is so slick. The truck rolls on custom XD 20 inch wheels and Goodyear tires.
