Towson Tigers football reaches FCS playoffs

The Towson Tigers have been selected to play in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision postseason and will host a game Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

Towson will play Duquesne at 2 p.m. Saturday.

It marks the Tigers' first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013 and just the third since joining what was previously referred to as Division 1-AA.

The Tigers completed the regular season at 7-4 overall, and in 5-3 in the CAA.

The Dukes finished 8-3, winning the Northeast Conference (NEC) and earning the school's second NCAA Tournament appearance.

Towson players learned the news while watching the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday afternoon while gathered in the Minnegan Room at Unitas Stadium.

The 2018 season marks the 50th in the history of Towson University football.

The Tigers drew more than 7,000 fans to four home games this season and are looking to build a true home field advantage for the game over Thanksgiving break.
