San Francisco Department of Public Works Partners With B.A. Design Students on Print Campaign

As part of an industry project in Jody Wilson's Digital Photographic Image class, Bachelor of Arts in Design students on the San Francisco campus partnered with the San Francisco Department of Public Works to design print materials for their year-long "Love Our City" anti dumping campaign which launched this week in Chinatown.

The artwork is featured on Muni buses, both interior and exterior, and bus shelters, and will continue to rollout throughout 2020.

Wilson says the first poster in this community service project is rolling out in Chinatown on the 30 Stockton bus, which is not only the most populated bus route in the city, it also runs directly by FIDM San Francisco's front door.

The Digital Photographic Image course (BDSN 3700) focuses on the student’s ability to express their point of view creatively through photography. They explore the basic tools, techniques, and aesthetics of digital photography, with special attention to lighting, focus, color, contrast, formal effects, and intent.

Following the Chinatown launch, the campaign will roll out in Mission at the end of March, Excelsior at the end of September, Bayview/Hunters Point at the end of October, and Tenderloin at the end of November.

Printed at the bottom of each poster are the words, “Produced in Association with Bachelor of Arts in Design Students at FIDM San Francisco.”
