Summer Hairstyle for Short Hair

Can you believe it’s almost 4th of July?

I love a long weekend of parties, get togethers and BBQ’s. Personally, I enjoy dressing up just a little for these occasions. But in an easy, no fuss way. Great for hosting and attending holiday soirees. I recently teamed up with Hair Cuttery to show a simple, Summer hair style for short hair.

Vanessa (from the Elmhurst Hair Cuttery location), concocted the perfect up do for my short, fine hair. The best part? No heat or hot tools needed. It’s half up, half down and you can get as fancy or as simple as you’d like.

Vanessa showed me the ropes in the salon. Then I recreated the look myself at home. Vanessa’s was way cuter (how awesome is that braid?!). I found it approachable, do-able and looks great with these 2 tricks…

2 Must Know Tricks For A Summer Up Do:

  1. Tease, tease, tease. At the root of your crown and the hair you’ll use to style your ponytail, topknot, etc. This makes your hair appear thicker and your bun fuller! Which if your hair is thin and fine like mine, this is key.
  2. The half ponytail should be placed directly on the crown of your head. This is the most flattering placement Vanessa explained! This also goes for ponytails, top knots and buns.

That’s it! What do you guys think? Pretty simple right?

If you’d like to live in the lap of luxury, nothing’s better than getting your hair done. This was just $20! I especially love going to Hair Cuttery before weddings and special events when I want to look extra done up. It’s also great to go for a casual, cute style before concerts and festivals too. You can find your closest Hair Cuttery here. For great, real life hair inspiration, you can keep up with Hair Cuttery on Facebook, TwitterInstagram and Pinterest.

So what are your plans for the 4th? We’re meeting friends for dinner in the city tonight and then playing the rest of the weekend by ear – pure heaven in my book! Where is this summer gooooooing by the way?!

P.S. I can’t STOP wearing this dress!

A huge thanks to Hair Cuttery for sponsoring this post!
